At least 40 students were beaten and forced to stand for two hours outside the Rajsunakhala Government High School in the Ranpur block of Nayagarh district for not wearing shoes.
According to sources, after the 7 a.m. prayer, students who were not wearing shoes were lined up and prevented from taking their monthly exams. Some of them were allegedly beaten and later sent out of the school premises, where they stood outside the gate from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Upon receiving information, a group of local journalists arrived at the scene and found 40 students waiting outside. When questioned, the students alleged that the headmaster beat them and prevented them from entering the school.

Aditya Sahu, a class 9th student, said, “me and my classmates were forced to stand outside the school today because I didn’t wear shoes. When we protested, we were told to go back home.”
