A woman doctor, suspected to have close links with the arrested doctor, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, is being interrogated by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the central agencies. More police officers have reached the spot, sources told Times Now.
The cops have arrested Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather, a resident of south Kashmir’s Qazigund, from a hospital in Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) on November 6. Another accused, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, a teacher at Al Falaha University, was arrested in a joint operation by Faridabad and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Adeel Rather was also wanted in connection with putting up posters supporting terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar. According to officials, Adeel, who worked as a Senior Resident at GMC Anantnag until October 2024, was absconding after the incident. Acting on leads, police tracked him to a private hospital on Ambala Road in Saharanpur, where he was apprehended.
During the operation, around 360 kg of explosives suspected to be ammonium nitrate, one Carom Cok rifle, two automatic pistols, 84 cartridges, five litres of chemicals, 20 timers with battery and 14 bags were recovered, police said.
Faridabad CP Satender Kumar said, “It is an ongoing joint operation between Haryana police and Jammu and Kashmir Police. An accused, Dr Muzamil, was nabbed. 360 kg of inflammable material is recovered yesterday, which is possibly ammonium nitrate. It is not RDX…”
