Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday reiterated his claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had intelligence inputs about “trouble” in Kashmir and held the Centre responsible for the death of 26 civilians in Pahalgam on April 22.
“Why did those 26 people die in Pahalgam?? It’s because the Modi government didn’t provide security there. I have told that Modi put off his April 17th visit to Kashmir after getting intelligence reports of disturbances in Kashmir. I still haven’t got an answer to this. You (Modi) knew this. If you had told these tourists to not go there, those 26 lives would have been saved. These chut-put wars with Pakistan wouldn’t have happened,” Kharge.
The AIl India Congress Committee President was speaking at the Samarpane Sankalpa in Hospet to celebrate two years of the Congress in power.
Kharge accused the Modi government of not consulting the opposition while sending delegations to different countries to articulate India’s positions about the clashes with Pakistan.
“Though they didn’t ask, we didn’t speak anything keeping the national interest in mind and are sending our representatives to different countries. Saving the country and its people is of paramount importance to us.”
Accusing Pakistan of always Blaming India, the AICC president accused Pakistan of taking Chinese help to attack India. Our country will never tolerate this. We are united,” he added.
Slamming Modi for his absence at two all-party meetings to discuss the national situation, Kharge said, “If you are patriotic, why didn’t you come to those meetings? In case we don’t go to such meetings once, we will be considered anti-nationals. But even if he doesn’t come, he is a patriot.”
