Telangana 16-year-old gave birth to a newborn at washroom

A 16-year-old girl in Telangana gave birth to a newborn in the washroom of a private diagnostic centre. The girl, after appearing for her intermediate examination, felt acute pain in her abdomen and was first taken to a private hospital by her mother. The doctors advised a scan, and hence, the girl was soon moved to a scanning centre. While waiting for her turn, she rushed to the washroom, suddenly went into labour, and gave birth to a newborn.

As per sources, the staff of the scanning centre noticed the newborn, who was allegedly placed in a dustbin by the girl and her mother. They soon alerted the police, and the latter rushed to the spot as soon as they learnt about the entire incident. The police immediately sent the 16-year-old and the newborn to the Nagarkurnool Government Hospital for medical for further medical care. As per the latest updates, both the girl and the newborn are in a safe and secure condition.

Meanwhile, the reason behind the girl’s pregnancy is still unknown. The police are continuing with further investigations.

Last year, in a similar incident, a class 10 student of a government-run residential school in Odisha’s Malkangiri district gave birth to a baby after giving her board exam.

The girl, who was staying in the school hostel, delivered the child at Chitrakonda Sub-Divisional Hospital after returning from her board examination. Reports suggested that the girl continued attending classes and appearing for exams without the school authorities noticing her condition.
