‘We Have Massive Amounts’: Trump Rejects Munitions Shortage Claims, Says Iran War Will End ‘Soon’

  • August 7, 2026

Several media outlets have reported that the US has used a significant share of its global stockpile of highly accurate long-range missiles during the five-month war with Iran.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday dismissed reports that the United States is running low on key missile stockpiles after months of conflict with Iran, insisting the military remains well supplied while acknowledging that inventories of some weapons were “a little bit tighter”.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said the Pentagon continued to have ample supplies of weapons and rejected media reports suggesting the country had depleted much of its stock of precision long-range missiles during its five-month war with Iran.

“We have certain types of munitions that are very powerful, that we have unlimited, virtually unlimited supply,” Trump said.

While dismissing claims of a broader shortage, he acknowledged that supplies of some types of munitions were tighter than others. “We have others where it’s a little bit tighter,” he said.

He maintained that the US was “in very good shape” and insisted, “We have literally massive amounts of ammunition.”

The US president also said defence companies were expanding production, including building new facilities to manufacture Patriot and Tomahawk missiles. “We always want more. We have to have more,” he said.
