Ahead of Holi, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration seized thousands of litres of edible oil and destroyed paneer, mawa and sweets in a statewide crackdown on adulteration.
The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration has launched a statewide crackdown on adulterated food items ahead of Holi, seizing large quantities of edible oil, paneer, mawa and sweets across multiple districts.
Officials said the intensified drive is aimed at ensuring food safety during the festive season, when demand for dairy products and sweets surges sharply.
In Hapur, the department seized 32,500 litres of suspected adulterated edible oil during inspections of manufacturing and storage units. Authorities said samples have been sent for laboratory testing.
The broader Holi campaign led to the seizure of nearly 30,000 units of edible oil from different parts of the state.
PANEER, MAWA DESTROYED MULTIPLE DISTRICTS
In Gautam Buddha Nagar’s Tilpata area, officials destroyed 200 kg of adulterated paneer ahead of Holi.
In Saharanpur’s Rampur Maniharan, authorities seized 6.30 quintals of suspected illegal paneer during the festive crackdown.
Ghaziabad witnessed one of the biggest actions. In just 72 hours, officials destroyed 2,500 kg of paneer and 200 kg of mawa after finding them unfit for consumption.
In Sambhal, a rasgulla manufacturing unit was raided and 225 kg of sweets were destroyed due to suspected adulteration.
