THE attorney of the holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s bombshell murder trial has slammed the probe into his personal life launched by the mom of three’s lawyer.
Clancy’s defense attorney filed a motion on Monday asking the judge to review an alleged domestic violence incident from 2021 involving juror Michael P. Desronvil.
Desronvil was the sole juror who found would not find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity after she strangled her three children to death in January 2023, leading her case to end in a mistrial after five weeks of testimony and one week of deliberations.
Reports surfaced about Desronvil’s background after the mistrial was declared, alleging he was involved in a domestic violence incident with his then-wife in 2021, which prompted Clancy’s attorney Kevin Reddington to launch a probe.
Reddington asked Judge William Sullivan to review the allegations and to look into Desronvil’s cellphone use during the trial, according to the New Haven Register.
Sullivan has agreed to reviewing different questionnaires that jurors completed before the trial was started to see if there were any lies on the forms.
Edward Andrew Paltzik, Desronvil’s attorney, issued a statement on Tuesday slamming “The Looney Tunes motion filed yesterday by Kevin ‘Shooter McGavin’ Reddington.”
Paltzik said the investigation is “not just an attack on Michael for being the courageous lone holdout juror.
“Reddington’s motion is actually a full-frontal attack on the U.S. Constitution.
“Because if the new normal is that jurors are going to face brutal reprisals for disagreeing with a defense attorney, you can kiss the Sixth Amendment goodbye.”
The Sixth Amendment guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, such as right to a public trial, the right to a lawyer and the right to an impartial jury.
“If we follow his destructive proposal to its logical conclusion, we’re going to have an endless cycle of prosecutors investigating holdouts who oppose ‘guilty’ and defense attorneys investigating holdouts who oppose ‘not guilty,’” Paltzik claimed.
“Kevin Reddington’s disgusting motion to investigate Michael is worthy of nothing but universal condemnation.
“This is certainly not the final word from us on this subject, but merely our first words. It’s all going to backfire spectacularly on sore loser Reddington.”
Paltzik has alleged his client has faced “death threats, doxxing, and harassment” since Clancy’s mistrial on September 4.
During the trial, Reddington argued Clancy was suffering from undiagnosed postpartum psychosis when she strangled her three children to death in the basement of their Duxbury, Massachusetts home on January 24, 2023.
The veteran attorney asked jurors to find Clancy not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility, also known as an insanity defense.
