Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was made to do ten push-ups as a lighthearted punishment for arriving late at the party’s training camp for district presidents in Madhya Pradesh’s Pachmarhi on Saturday. According to party sources, the Congress camp maintained strict discipline, with symbolic penalties introduced to encourage punctuality among participants.
On Sunday, the Congress Raebareli MP arrived nearly 20 minutes late for the evening session, prompting camp chief Sachin Rao to jokingly remind attendees that latecomers were expected to face a “punishment”.
When Rahul Gandhi asked what that meant, Rao said the rule required ten push-ups.
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha immediately complied, performing them before taking his seat — an act that drew applause from participants and set a lighter tone for the session.
After the brief episode, Rahul Gandhi went on to address the new district presidents and discuss organisational goals and training strategies.
The event, part of the Congress’s internal capacity-building programme, emphasised discipline and accountability within party ranks.
RENEWED ‘VOTE CHORI’ ATTACK ON BJP
Later, the Congress MP turned his attention to the ruling BJP and the Election Commission, accusing them of large-scale electoral malpractice through ‘vote chori’.
“A few days ago, I presented the Haryana model where 2.5 million votes were stolen — one in every eight. This is their system. The main issue is vote chori,” he claimed, adding that his party had evidence which would be released gradually. Both the BJP and the Election Commission have rejected these allegations.
BJP’S ‘LEADER OF PARTYING’ JIBE
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala took a swipe at Gandhi, calling him the “Leader of Tourism and partying”.
