The Delhi Minister alleged that Singh arrived at the road construction site with “history-sheeter goons” after being called for an inspection.
Amid a row over slapping a man during an inspection, Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma on Sunday accused AAP MLA from Tilak Nagar, Jarnail Singh, of demanding a commission from a road contractor.
He further alleged that Singh arrived at a road construction site with “history-sheeter goons” after he called the latter to join him during the inspection.
The BJP leader also accused Singh of reaching out to PWD engineers to seek a commission from the road contractor, saying such demands would not be tolerated.
Verma’s remarks came after a video showing him allegedly slapping a man who was recording a road inspection in Tilak Nagar circulated on social media. The incident triggered a political row, with AAP leaders demanding action against the BJP leader.
According to Verma, Singh had earlier complained about poor-quality road construction, following which he visited the site and asked the AAP MLA to join him. However, Verma alleged that Singh instead brought AAP workers to the spot, who abused him and his family.
In a video message shared on X, Verma said he had personally called Singh three times and alleged that the MLA arrived with “history-sheeter goons” and turned the inspection into a confrontation.
“Today’s visit was proceeding peacefully, as can be seen in this video, and I personally called AAP MLA Jarneil Singh three times to invite him. I had only gone to inspect the road to the gurdwara with my engineer, because there is an event at the gurdwara on October 5, and this road hadn’t been built for 15 years,” Verma captioned the video.
