As a tribute to the Indian Army-led strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor,’ locals in Nagpur held a grand torch rally on Wednesday evening.
The rally, which drew hundreds of participants, was organised to honour the armed forces for their response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen, on 22 April.
A video of the event, shared by ANI, shows people waving torches and tricolour while chanting slogans in support of the Indian Army.

Speaking at the rally, one participant said, “The Indian government had promised the countrymen. The Indian Army first attacked by entering, then attacked a second time through air strike and this time we will not only attack PoK, we will kill the terrorists wherever they are hiding.”
He added, “Whenever there was a war with Pakistan, our army always won, but whenever there was a dialogue on the negotiating table, the army always lost. This time the Indian government gave a free hand to the army. The army is ready to eliminate anyone who tries to trouble Indian citizens and this message was given by the Prime Minister.”
Similar celebrations took place in other parts of the country. In Rajasthan’s Bhilwara, residents gathered at the Information Centre Square, lighting fireworks and raising slogans in support of the armed forces.

India’s Response: ‘Operation Sindoor’
Early Wednesday, in a coordinated military operation, the Indian armed forces launched deep-strike missile attacks on nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The targets included the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) stronghold in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke — both deep within Pakistan’s Punjab province, over 100 kilometres from the Indian border.
The strikes were described by the government as “measured, non-escalatory, and proportionate.” According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the decision to strike was made due to Pakistan’s continued inaction and failure to dismantle terrorist infrastructure on its soil.
“This was the first such aerial operation conducted by India inside Punjab province of Pakistan since the 1971 war,” Misri said at a press briefing, adding that the action aimed to bring the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack to justice.
