The 42-year-old Olympic medallist’s legal representatives issued a legal notice to dispel grapevine talk of a relationship with a businessman, Hitesh Choudhary.
Legendary Indian boxer MC Mary Kom issued a legal notice following speculation surrounding her personal life as she confirmed her divorce from her former husband, Onkholer Kom, while also refuting rumours of a relationship with a businessman, Hitesh Choudhary, with whom she has a strictly professional relationship.
The 42-year-old Olympic medallist’s legal representatives’ notice was “issued in response to the Article published in the Hindustan Times EFL, on April 7, 2025 and subsequently engaging various media outlets in unwarranted speculation and unfounded claims regarding the personal life of Ms. M.C. Mary Kom.”
“Specifically, the following matters are addressed: Speculations regarding her divorce and separation from her husband, Mr. Onkholer (Onler) Kom, along with related news about him and his current state of affairs. And Claims suggesting that she is currently dating Mr. Hitesh Choudhary, who is identified as a business partner and chairman of the Ms. Mary Kom Boxing Foundation.”
The notice went on to assert that Mary and Onkholer had brought their marriage to an end with a divorce under Kom laws, and urged the public to refrain from discussing the same in order to afford privacy to the iconic pugilist.
“In the light of these speculative and incorrect media reports, I wish to issue the following clarifications: Ms. M.C. Mary Kom and Mr. Onkholer (Onler) Kom are no longer married and they have finalized their divorce by mutual consent under KOM CUSTOMARY LAW on December 20 2023, in the presence of both family members and leaders of the clan as the adjudicating authorities.”
“As for the details of their past marriage, my client states that the aforesaid speculations, assertions are denied being wrong and incorrect. Any further than this, my client does not wish to state or comment, as this is a matter of the past. She has since moved on with her life positively, in accordance with the mutual agreement signed thereof.”
The notice went on to clarify the strictly business relationship between the boxer and Choudhary and refuted claims of the 42-year-old being involved romantically with another boxer’s spouse.
“The rumours regarding my client’s relationship involvement with Mr. Hitesh Choudhary or being in a relationship with another boxer’s husband, are categorically denied and should not be propagated by any media platform.”
“It is further stated that Mr. Hitesh Choudhary is working with my client, Mary Kom strictly under business collaboration relationship and any & all speculations beyond it, are specifically denied.”
“Over the past two years, my client has been going through a deeply challenging time in her personal life, especially with her ex-husband. During this difficult hour, my client requests her friends, fans, and well-wishers to kindly give her the space and privacy she needs to navigate this difficult time. This notice serves as a formal request for all media entities, in all forms, to refrain from making baseless speculations about my client,” the directive continued.
