Television actress Dipika Kakar, known for her role in Sasural Simar Ka, recently underwent a major 14-hour-long surgery to remove a stage-2 liver cancer tumour. She is currently recovering in the hospital, and her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, has been constantly updating fans about her health. In a heartfelt video shared from her hospital bed, Dipika became emotional as she thanked her fans and well-wishers for their prayers.
“Thank you for all your prayers. I’m recovering well and feeling much better,” Dipika said, fighting back tears. She added, “Dusre patients ke relatives bhi bol rahe the, ‘Hum aapke liye pray kar rahe the.’… Bohot achhe se recovery ho rahi hai. Main ab kaafi better hoon.”
In the same video, Shoaib revealed that the operation had lasted from 8:30 am to 11:30 pm. “Doctors were able to remove the tumour completely. Along with it, they had to remove her gall bladder due to stones and a part of the liver. Thankfully, the liver regenerates itself, , so that is not a major concern,” he explained.
Dipika had earlier shared that she had been experiencing severe upper abdominal pain and fatigue. After medical checkups, a tumour the size of a tennis ball was detected in the left lobe of her liver. On May 28, Dipika revealed that it was cancerous and classified as stage 2. She called it “one of the most difficult times” of her life.
