Weeks after facing backlash for her remarks on Gen Z, actress-politician Kangana Ranaut has now taken a U-turn. On Friday, Ranaut was speaking to the media outside the parliament when she called Gen Z ‘a great asset’ and a part of their government.
“Gen Z is the strength of our country and, in a way, a great asset to our nation. We are very happy that our young people are increasingly emerging as ambassadors of our culture and its identity,” Kangana Ranaut told reporters, as quoted by The Indian Express.
“We have also had the opportunity to listen to Mohan Bhagwat ji, whom we hold in the highest regard, and benefit from his wisdom and experience. It is a matter of great happiness that the country’s youth are connecting with us and embracing our cultural identity,” the BJP MP from Mandi added.
“Gen Z is part of the government. It is their mandate, which our government has been fulfilling for so many years. Gen Z are great. It’s not like the 10-15 people who are abusing are Gen Z,” she stated.
Kangana Ranaut’s Remarks About Gen Z
Kangana had recently criticised the language and behaviour of some young protesters during the CJP-led protests. In one of her social media posts, she used the term “Generation Gutter” while expressing her disappointment with the way some protesters were speaking online.
“Never in my life have I seen so much ugliness in one place. These reels from Gen Z protests are puke-inducing. The way they speak and the kind of language they are using, never in my life have I seen everything in each and every frame so jarring and so crass all at once. Ewww,” she wrote in one of her Instagram posts and then added, “Who is birthing and raising them? India is a place of diversely beautiful people, draped in elegance and rooted in cultural sophistication.”
