Is Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Haunted? This Man Claims Mysterious Scoreboard Prediction Before Match

Eden Gardens in Kolkata remains one of the iconic cricket stadiums in India. Over the years, it has hosted many historic matches and unforgettable moments in the sport. But apart from cricket, there is also a strange story linked to the stadium that many people may not know about. A content creator recently spoke about an old and mysterious tale connected to the stadium from the time when matches used manual scoreboards.

According to the story, a journalist once walked into the stadium a day before an India vs England match and noticed that a player’s name and score were already written on the board. The next day, the same player got out at exactly that score during the match. The same thing reportedly happened again with another batsman, leaving the journalist confused. An old worker claimed that the ghost of a British officer visit stadium at night.

Journalist Notices Strange Score On Manual Scoreboard

According to the content creator, “The stadium is actually very haunted, but very few people actually know about it. So long before the electronic scorecards, there used to be manual scorecards. You know, those big black scorecards we have to manually put in the name of the batsman, the player, the score, the number of runs scored, etc. During that era, there was an England vs India match. The night before the match, there was a press conference and one of the journalists just wandered into the ground. So there he saw that on the manual scorecard. There was a name of an Indian batsman, said Tendulkar and it said three runs and it said out. It basically means Tendulkar got out at 3 runs, so he said, maybe they’re just testing the scorecard, didn’t think much about it.”

“The next day, when the match started, that Indian batsman got out at the same exact score. So this journalist thought that maybe it’s just a coincidence, but in the next innings, he again went to the stadium. Before the match, he saw another batsman named there, and it said 4 runs. And when the match actually started, that Indian batsman got out again, had the 4 runs. So he was very bamboozled. Couldn’t be a coincidence. So he started asking around and they figured out, some of the old timers said that they had actually seen this happening pretty often in the stadium in India vs England match until an old drunk groundsman told them that from the nearby South Cemetery, he had seen the ghost of an old British general who comes here changes the scorecard for the Indian batsmen because he does not want them to perform against the British,” he explained.
