The term ‘gaffe’ is no longer something many associate with former US President Joe Biden alone. After a video of a recent White House press conference began circulating online, US President Donald Trump, too, seemingly joined the list.
The video shows Trump speaking about the ‘importance’ of tariffs, during which he recalled the time he ‘stopped’ a war between India and Pakistan — or so most people assumed was the ‘correct version’ of what he actually meant to say.
During the press conference, Trump accidentally referred to India as ‘Iran’, and further called ‘Iran’ a ‘nuclear power’.

“If you look at Pakistan and Iran, I told them — I was in the midst of negotiating a trade deal,” the US President is heard saying in the clip.

“I heard that they were shooting at each other. And I said during one of my conversations — are you guys going to war? Two nuclear powers? I said, here’s the deal: if you go to war, I’m gonna put 200 per cent tariffs,” Trump continued.
As soon as Trump confused India with Iran and called Iran a ‘nuclear power’, netizens caught the mistake. What followed was classic internet behaviour — users sharing their two cents on everything from the US President’s ‘deteriorating cognitive health’ to broader political commentary.

The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘ksphotos_fr’. The post was shared today and pulled more than 416K views from people.

“Dementia is one of the symptoms for a septuagenarian,” added another.
“It’s hard to tell how much of this is from dementia and how much is from the fact that Donald Trump has always been a m**on said a third.
