Harmony, happiness, prosperity and swadeshi push: PM’s Diwali message to nation

  • October 20, 2025

From Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to embrace ‘Swadeshi’ to record-breaking celebrations in Ayodhya, political leaders marked Diwali with messages of harmony, prosperity, and national pride.

PM Modi extends Diwali wishes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended warm greetings to the nation on the occasion of Diwali, wishing that the festival of lights illuminate people’s lives with “harmony, happiness and prosperity”.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Greetings on the occasion of Diwali. May this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. May the spirit of positivity prevail all around us.”

The Prime Minister also urged Indian consumers to buy domestically made “Swadeshi” products during the festival, encouraging the purchase of Indian-made goods and supporting local artisans.

“Let’s mark this festive season by celebrating the hardwork, creativity and innovation of 140 crore Indians. Let’s buy Indian products and say – Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai! Do also share what you bought on social media. This way you will inspire others to also do the same,” PM Modi wrote on X.

President Droupadi Murmu also extended her greetings, saying, “On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Indians, both in India and across the world.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah conveyed his wishes, stating, “Heartfelt Diwali greetings to all on this festival of lights and joy. I pray to Lord Shri Ram for the health and prosperity of all.”

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, “I extend best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Diwali. May we all pledge to work for the development of the nation on this occasion. We all should aim to bring a smile to the faces of people.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Diwali as a “sacred symbol of the eternal victory of truth”.

“Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all of you on the grand festival of Diwali, the sacred symbol of the eternal victory of truth, righteousness, and positivity! The festival of lights is not merely a ritual of lighting lamps, but a beacon of hope in the soul, a pulse of harmony in society, and a resolve for national resurgence. May the grace of Lord Shri Ram and Mother Janaki illuminate not only our homes but also our hearts, and may the lamp of faith, enthusiasm, and zeal be kindled in everyone’s life-this is my prayer. Jai Jai Siyaram!” he said.

Meanwhile, on the eve of Deepotsav, Ayodhya entered the Guinness World Records by lighting over 26 lakh oil lamps and hosting the largest-ever Saryu aarti.

The event was organised by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department in collaboration with the Ayodhya District Administration. In the largest display of oil lamps, 2,617,215 diyas were lit along the banks of the Saryu River.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also extended Diwali greetings, saying, “Heartfelt Diwali greetings to all my fellow citizens from my side. May this wonderful festival, which leads from darkness to light, fill your life with joy. May everyone’s life be filled with happiness, peace, and prosperity; that is my heartfelt wish. Let us all come together to promote love, brotherhood, harmony, and goodwill, and confront injustice, ignorance, and discrimination unitedly, so that the light of truth and justice always illuminates our path.”

Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari greeted citizens saying, “Happy Diwali to all the people of the state. We must adopt Swadeshi and use only products made in our country.”
