A complaint was filed against Hardik Pandya for insulting the national flag during the T20 World Cup celebration at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya finds himself in hot soup after a complaint was filed against him for allegedly insulting the national flag after the T20 World Cup final. The complaint was lodged at Shivaji Nagar police station in Pune by advocate Wajid Khan, who stated that Pandya wrapped the national flag around his body and made obscene gestures during the T20 World Cup celebration. The development was confirmed by a Shivaji Nagar police station officer. “The act constitutes an offence under the relevant law, and legal action should be taken. It is the duty of every citizen to respect the dignity of the national flag,” the complaint application stated.
Meanwhile, Pandya played a significant role in India’s T20 World Cup win. The all-rounder was crucial with the bat and scored vital runs down the order, including two fifties. He also picked up nine wickets in the tournament. The valuable contribution from Pandya also saw him get into the ICC team of the T20 World Cup 2026. He was one of the four Indians to make the list.
‘I Wanted To Make A Dominating Comeback’: Hardik Pandya
Following the win, Hardik Pandya spoke about the difficult phase of life before the T20 World Cup 2024, when he struggled with injuries and was going through a rough phase in his personal life, and said that he promised himself he would make a great comeback.
“When we won the T20 World Cup in 2024, I was facing a lot of difficulties personally. Many things had happened before that tournament, and things were not going my way. Before the 2024 World Cup started, I had made up my mind that I was going for redemption.
“I wanted to make a dominating comeback. I did that and helped my team win the trophy after 17 years,” Pandya recalled his performance in the tournament that broke India’s long title drought in ICC events.
