‘Exposed, Game Over Bro’: BJP Tears Into Prashant Bhushan’s ‘Want Regime Change’ Call

  • October 17, 2026

The BJP criticised Prashant Bhushan for advocating “regime change” during a press conference related to protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Assam’s Chief Minister Sarma accused the protesters of attempting to undermine the elected government and described their actions as anti-national.

The BJP, on Thursday, launched a sharp attack on senior advocate Prashant Bhushan after he openly called for a “regime change” in the country during a press conference amid the ongoing protests against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Bhushan, who was flanked by All India Students’ Association (AISA) activist Neha Bora and Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, said the struggle was now “really for a regime change”, prompting BJP leaders to accuse the protesting group of pursuing a political agenda.

Taking to X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma alleged that the protests were part of an attempt by forces unable to win the people’s mandate to overthrow the elected government.

“Their gameplan is clear, anti-national forces who cannot win the people’s mandate are now on the streets to effectively engineer a REGIME CHANGE operation. Their only mission is to overthrow the Govt by anarchist means and grab power by book or crook,” Sarma wrote.

He further asserted that India’s democracy was robust and that the government enjoyed the people’s mandate.

“But India is not just another country – our democracy is robust, it runs on the will of the people and that will is firmly with the Govt and Adarniya @narendramodi ji who has been blessed thrice by the people of Bharat,” he said.

“Together, the people of Bharat will fight these forces and give them a strong answer to their anti-national plans,” Sarma added.

This is what I told you few days back.

Identify these faces- Their gameplan is clear, anti-national forces who cannot win the people’s mandate are now on the streets to effectively engineer a REGIME CHANGE operation. Their only mission is to overthrow the Govt by anarchist means and grab power by book or crook.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also targeted Bhushan over his remarks, claiming that the statement had exposed the protesters’ real intentions.

“Game over, bro. The agenda is EXPOSED! It was never about protest. It was all about ‘Regime Change’!” Gupta posted on X.

Game over, bro.
The agenda is EXPOSED!
It was never about protest. It was all about ‘Regime Change’!
