A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck southern Philippines’ Davao Oriental on Monday, with no tsunami warning, casualties, or major damage reported.

A strong earthquake of 6.2 magnitude on the Richter Scale struck Davao Oriental region in the southern Philippines on Monday (June 15). SO far no tsunami warning has been issued. The quake struck 164 km (102 miles) southeast of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental province had a depth of 86 km, said the Philippine state seismology agency Phivolcs, as reported by Reuters.
There are no reports of any injuries or collateral damage due to the quake. However, panic gripped the locals. As per the global news agency, Phivolcs director Teresito Bacolcol told DZMM radio that today’s quake originated along the Philippine Trench and is not connnected to the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that jolted Mindanao on June 8.
Mindanao Earthquake:
Last week, a strong earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck the southern Philippine city of General Santos in Mindanao. Over 60 lost their lives in that earthquake. Meanwhile, over 400 people were also reportedly injured in the quake. Tsunami alerts were issued across several Asian countries. More than 30 people are reportedly still missing. The casualties were caused by falling debris, building collapse and landslides.
