Former child actress Daveigh Chase, known for her roles in “The Ring” and “Lilo & Stitch,” has died. She was 35 years old.
Chase died on Tuesday following a case of meningitis and an infection in her blood, which caused her to suffer septic issues and led to her body shutting down, according to her boyfriend Roy Hernandez.
TMZ was the first to report this news.

According to the outlet, Chase was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month due to malnutrition.
A rep for Chase did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The actress rose to fame at a young age after landing the lead role as Lilo in Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” film in 2002. She also reprised her role in the franchise’s TV series.
Prior to her breakout role, she voiced the character of Chihiro Ogino in the American dub of “Spirited Away.”
Also in 2002, she gave a haunting performance as Samara Morgan in the horror classic, “The Ring,” which earned her an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.
In 2024, a clip resurfaced from that 2003 MTV Movie Awards ceremony of the actress’ awkward run-in with Diddy, who asked a then 12-year-old Chase, “You coming to the afterparty tonight?”
In 2006, she landed a recurring role in HBO’s “Big Love” as Rhonda Volmer. She made 32 appearances throughout the show’s five-season run.
Her other credits include “Donnie Darko,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “Beethoven’s 5th,” “ER,” “Mercy” and more.
But her onscreen appearances ended after she starred in “American Romance” in 2016.
“I just want to make something that I love and people will respect,” Chase previously told Interview of her career in 2009.
“I want to do things that will change someone’s life, not something they’ll forget about tomorrow.”
After her final role, Chase kept a low profile away from the spotlight. Her last Instagram post, which was shared in 2017, showed the actress artfully posing with a unicorn balloon.
“Unicorns DO exist 😻,” she captioned the post.
In recent months, the actress was said to be living on skid row in Downtown Los Angeles. John Ryan, Chase’s manager of more than a decade, exclusively told The Post that he and Chase’s stepsister, Gaia Brown, had enlisted the help of a private investigator about a year ago to track her down and get her some help.
At the end of 2025, Ryan said he was made aware of a video which allegedly showed Chase shockingly skinny and struggling on Skid Row.
Shortly before her death, a GoFundMe was created by her boyfriend to help Chase “find comfort and peace” in her final days.
