‘Blame Game Doesn’t Work Anymore’: Iran Warns US Of ‘Retreat And Regret’ After American Strikes

  • June 27, 2026

The statement followed U.S. strikes on Iran’s missile, drone storage locations and coastal radar sites in retaliation for its attack on a commercial ship that was passing Hormuz

Ebrahim Azizi, the head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, said Saturday that the U.S. had attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations, vowing the strike would lead to “retreat and regret” on Washington’s part.

Azizi, a former commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), criticised U.S. President Donald Trump, saying he failed to commit to the “principles of negotiation“, adding the “blame game doesn’t work anymore“.

The statement followed U.S. strikes on Iran’s missile, drone storage locations and coastal radar sites in retaliation for its attack on a commercial ship that was passing the Strait of Hormuz –– the key waterway which accounts for nearly one-fifth of the global energy trade.

In a post on ‘X’, Azizi wrote: “The U.S. attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations once again. The failed U.S. President has shown he does not commit to the principles of negotiation or a ceasefire.”

The U.S. attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations once again.

The failed U.S. President has shown he has no commitment to the principles of negotiation or a ceasefire.

This reckless violation of the ceasefire will, as always, lead to retreat and regret on their part.

“This reckless violation of the ceasefire will, as always, lead to retreat and regret on their part The blame game does not work anymore”, he added.

Azizi’s remarks came hours after the IRGC announced that it had targeted U.S. military positions across the region in response to American strikes on the country’s south.

‘Violence Will Be Met With Violence’

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Friday announced it had conducted strikes against Iran in retaliation for an attack on a commercial ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

“U.S. aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites after Iran hit M/V Ever Lovely on June 25 with a one-way attack drone. The Singapore-flagged cargo ship was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast at the time of Iran’s attack”, said the U.S. military in a statement.

Iran signed a ceasefire agreement. We have honored it. If they have disagreements about how the MOU is being applied, they can pick up the phone.

But violence will be met with violence. https://t.co/VWnBS1PWaV

— JD Vance (@JDVance) June 26, 2026

Following the strike, U.S. Vice President JD Vance warned Iran that “violence will be met with violence”, as he called on Tehran to engage in conversation to resolve disagreements.
