The Election Commission, in a bid to curb the use of money and illicit inducements during the assembly polls, has directed multiple enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and active until the voting process is complete in Bihar.
Enforcement agencies in Bihar have seized cash, liquor, drugs and other freebies worth Rs 34 crore since the announcement of the assembly elections in the state on October 6, 2025 as part of efforts to prevent illicit inducement of voters by political parties.
Officials said that those caught during the recent seizures failed to provide satisfactory answers about the source or destination of the seized cash and goods.

The measures are also being implemented in eight constituencies across seven other states where by-elections are scheduled. State police, excise, income tax, other enforcement wings, postal department, state forest department, and state cooperative departments have been put on high alert.
Official teams were deployed immediately after the announcement of the election to monitor candidates’ poll spending in their constituencies. These teams are visiting their respective areas, conducting surprise inspections, and meeting with local enforcement units to ensure strict compliance.
Flying squads, surveillance teams, and video monitoring units will stay on alert to detect any suspicious movement of cash or inducements by political parties to influence voters during the election period. The Election Commission has also activated the Election Seizure Management System (ESMS), an online platform for real-time reporting by enforcement teams such as the flying squads (FS) and static surveillance teams (SST).
