Bengaluru police filed an FIR against Rakesh Kishore for attempting to hurl a shoe at CJI BR Gavai in Supreme Court; BCI suspended Kishore’s licence after the shocking incident.
Bengaluru police have registered an FIR against advocate Rakesh Kishore for trying to hurl a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai in the Supreme Court.
The FIR invokes offences under BNS Sections 132 and 133. The complaint was filed by the All India Advocates’ Association, Bengaluru.
The incident occurred two days later, in an unprecedented and shocking event, when Kishore attempted to hurl a shoe towards CJI Gavai in his courtroom at the Supreme Court.
Alert security personnel present inside the courtroom immediately intervened and prevented the attack.
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has suspended Kishore’s licence with immediate effect.
The suspension bars him from appearing, acting, pleading or practising in any court, tribunal or authority across the country.
A 71-year-old lawyer, Rakesh Kishore, was swiftly escorted out of the court premises. In the process, he shouted “‘Sanatan ka apman nahi sahega Hindustan’ (India will not tolerate the disrespect of the Sanatana Dharma)”.
Despite the disruption, CJI Gavai remained calm, telling the courtroom, “Don’t get distracted by all this. We are not distracted. These things do not affect me.”
