At the heart of the emergency dialogue is Islamabad’s push for Iran to exert its diplomatic influence over the Houthi movement in Yemen. Recent escalations and stepped-up Houthi attacks against targets in Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea have raised sharp concerns across Gulf nations. Pakistan, maintaining close economic and defense ties with Riyadh, is seeking Tehran’s active intervention to halt further aggression and avert a wider regional conflict.
The high-level push comes in the wake of fresh contacts between Islamabad, Beijing, and Tehran, following Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s recent engagements in China.
