Anu, who walked away from stardom at the peak of her career, clarified that her exit from films wasn’t due to disillusionment. “I didn’t leave because of negativity or disappointment. I left because I had achieved everything already and wanted to focus more on personal growth,” she shared.

She likened the fan frenzy around her to what superstar Shah Rukh Khan experiences today. “For me to walk around alone and live alone at that time… I had fans standing under my building. Luckily, it was an MLA-MP building, so we had police protection. It was madness,” she said.
