Ananya Panday casually confessed her Labubu doll is a fake “Lafufu,” sparking laughs online. Here’s all you need to know about the same!

In this day and age when brand names and labels are quite literally everything, leave it to Ananya Panday to remind us that it’s okay to not take trends too seriously. In a recent video, the actress could be heard telling social media sensation Orry that the Labubu she’s been sporting on her Chanel bag is in fact – a Lafufu. And honestly? It’s the kind of nonchalant fashion confession we didn’t know we needed.
All about Labubus and Lafufus
Unless you have been living under a literal rock, you’re probably aware of the Labubu craze that has the internet in a chokehold right now. As for the unversed, Labubus are those adorable, wide-eyed gremlins that have been hanging from everyone’s bags. Originally designed by Hong Kong-based artist Kasing Lung and sold by Pop Mart, these vinyl dolls have gone from collectible toys to the latest “It” accessory. They’re cute, a little creepy, and somehow look amazing hanging from a Rs 3 lakh handbag.
Now let’s introduce you to – Lafufu
An ultra-fake version of the Labubu, Lafufus are counterfeit goods that you can buy in place of Labubus. They come at a fraction of the cost and unless you are looking closely, there is hardly any difference between the two dolls.
In the video quickly going viral, Ananya revealed that the Labubu everyone spotted clipped to her Chanel bag wasn’t, well…a Labubu. “It’s fake,” she said with a smile, adding, “But it’s on a Chanel, so no one’s going to know.”
As it happened, a friend of hers wanted to start a Labubu business and ended up ordering 100 Lafufus by mistake. Instead of swapping it out for the real deal, Ananya just rolled with it.
