‘Your Countdown Has Begun’: Bilawal Escalates Attack On Pakistan PM Shehbaz After PoK Polls

  • August 4, 2026

PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has accused the ruling PML-N of rigging the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir elections and warned the Shehbaz Sharif government of a political showdown.

Pakistan’s ruling coalition appears headed for fresh turbulence after Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government over the recently concluded Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) elections, accusing the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of widespread rigging, violence and intimidation.

In a strongly worded address to party workers, Bilawal declared, “Your countdown has begun,” signalling what many within Pakistan’s political circles view as the most serious confrontation yet between the coalition partners.

Bilawal’s aggressive posture has significantly strained relations between the PPP and the PML-N, raising fresh questions over the stability of the Shehbaz Sharif government.

Sections of Pakistan’s military establishment are closely monitoring the evolving political situation. They further claimed that powerful quarters within the establishment are weighing political alternatives should the coalition come under greater strain. According to the sources, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is emerging as a possible consensus figure in the event of a major political realignment.

Bilawal rejected the PoK election results, describing the polls as “rigged, bloody and murderous”, and accused the PML-N government of attempting to suppress the PPP through violence and intimidation.

The PPP chief alleged that party workers were killed during the election campaign and claimed that a PPP Member of the National Assembly was shot. He also accused the ruling party of using force to influence the electoral outcome.

Despite alleging widespread irregularities, Bilawal said the PPP had secured nine seats in the elections and vowed to reclaim what he described as the party’s “stolen seats” in Mirpur and Muzaffarabad.

“PPP never leaves the battlefield,” Bilawal said, asserting that the party would continue its struggle for the rights of the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

He announced a major public rally in Bagh on August 10 and called upon party workers and supporters to intensify their campaign in the region. Bilawal also urged voters in Muzaffarabad to “defeat the conspiracy” of the ruling PML-N in the remaining electoral contests.
