Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a telephonic conversation with US President Donald Trump. This was the first conversation between Trump and Modi after the launch of Operation Sindoor last month.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited by United States President Donald Trump to visit the country on his return journey from Canada. However, PM Modi said that he cannot accept the invitation due to a pre-existing schedule.
PM Modi, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada, held a 35-minute-long phone call with Trump. The two leaders were scheduled ro meet on the margins of the summit, but the meeting could not happen as Trump decided to cut short his visit citing tensions in West Asia, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said.
During the call, Trump invited PM Modi to visit the US on his return journey from Canada. However, PM Modi said he cannot accept the invitation due to a pre-existing schedule, Misri said.
Further, PM Modi invited Trump to visit India for the Quad Summit, likely later this year, to which he agreed.

During the call, PM Modi set the record straight that India had paused strikes on Pakistan during Operation Sindoor following a request from Islamabad and not due to mediation or offer of a trade deal by the US.
