According to Navy officials, both incidents happened during routine operations, though they occurred at different times. Immediate rescue efforts were launched from nearby ships and aircraft, and all crew members involved were safely recovered from the water.

What Navy Said

In an official statement, the US Navy said the two aircraft were involved in unrelated mishaps while conducting operations from the USS Nimitz carrier group. “All crew members were safely rescued, and the USS Nimitz Strike Group remains fully mission-capable,” the statement read.

The Navy has launched a full investigation into the incidents. Preliminary reports suggest that no hostile activity was involved and that the aircraft went down due to separate technical or operational issues. Naval aviation safety teams have been sent to analyze the wreckage and determine the exact cause.

USS Nimitz Operating In High-Tension Region

The USS Nimitz (CVN-68), one of the Navy’s most advanced and longest-serving aircraft carriers, is currently deployed in the South China Sea, a region that often witnesses military activity and geopolitical tension. US naval forces frequently carry out missions there to ensure freedom of navigation in international waters.
