The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), on Saturday, announced that it will launch a nationwide agitation from Mumbai on October 2 after its ultimatum seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar ended today.
The development came in response to CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke’s 24-hour ultimatum to Gyanesh Kumar to resign, warning that the group would begin a nationwide agitation if the demand was not met. In a post on X, the CJP had said that the protest would begin in Mumbai on Gandhi Jayanti and subsequently spread to cities across the country.
Following the end of the deadline, the Cockroach Party took to its X handle and wrote, “Time’s Up! Our nationwide agitation starts from Mumbai on 2nd October.”

The group has been demanding the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation over allegations concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The call for the nationwide protest comes amid a wider political controversy over the functioning of the Election Commission and the SIR exercise.
Opposition Rallies Around CJP’s SIR Protest
The chorus for the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) planned stir against Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar gained momentum earlier in the day. UBT Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray has pledged support to the CJP’s protest in Mumbai on October 2.
