The woman left her phone with her two children and then jumped into Hussain Sagar lake in Telangana.
A 29-year-old woman died by suicide in Telangana after jumping into a lake on Friday evening.
The woman was identified as Vasantha. She is survived by her two sons — the elder aged seven, a Class 2 student, and the younger aged three-and-a-half years.
According to the police, Vasantha lost her husband, Laxman, four years ago and had since been living with her mother and brother. She supported her family by working as a daily wage labourer.
On Friday evening, she brought her children to Tank Bund, gave them a mobile phone to play with, and then jumped into the Hussain Sagar lake. Some people present at the spot noticed the incident and alerted the police.
Police personnel rushed to the scene and retrieved her body from the water. The body was later shifted to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
