Rishabh Pant was run out for 74 at the stroke of Lunch. Pant’s dismissal left fans fuming and they took to X to trend ‘stupid, stupid, stupid.
Rishabh Pant played a brilliant innings of 74 at Lord’s in the first innings, but was unfortunately run out by Ben Stokes on the last ball before Lunch to tilt the match back in balance. India came out all guns blazing in the first session on Day 3 and added 103 runs before Pant’s run out. They were cruising towards England’s first innings score of 387, but Pant’s dismissal at 248, brought hosts back in the game.
Pant has been in great form in the series, and reached second in the list of most runs in the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy – 416, only behind Shubman Gill’s 601. Speaking about the dismissal, it was a poor judgment from Pant who tapped the ball to Ben Stokes on the off side and sat off for a run, which wasn’t there.
Fans React To Pant’s Dismissal
Meanwhile, fans on social media weren’t pleased with Pant’s act and lashed out at the southpaw and KL Rahul for poor game sense. Soon after his dismissal, ‘Stupid, Stupid, Stupid’ – a phrase that was first used by Sunil Gavaskar for Rishabh Pant- was trending on X. Fans speculated that Pant wanted to get KL Rahul on strike for his hundred and it cost India a crucial wicket.
