PM Narendra Modi gifted a miniature silver Ram temple and an urn to the Trinidadian PM, and a silver lion on a fuchsite base and a Madhubani painting to Argentinian leadership
A silver replica of Ayodhya’s Ram temple was among the unique gifts that Prime Minister Narendra Modi carried with him during his official visit to Argentina as well as Trinidad and Tobago last week.
Modi gifted the temple replica and an urn with sacred water to his Trinidadian counterpart. To the Argentine leadership, he gifted a hand-etched silver lion on a fuchsite base and a Madhubani painting.
The Prime Minister had travelled to Trinidad and Tobago – the second leg of his ongoing five-nation tour – where he gifted a ‘kalash’, or an urn, with water from the Saryu river to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The urn, filled with what is believed to be sacred water from the Saryu, is a symbol of purity, blessings, and spiritual grace. The Saryu, which flows through Ayodhya – believed to be the birthplace of Hindu deity Ram – is significant in Hinduism.
Crafted in metal, the urn embodies abundance and sanctity making it an auspicious offering. It connects the giver and receiver to Ayodhya’s legacy of dharma, devotion, and liberation.
Modi also gifted the Trinidadian PM a silver replica of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, a finely handcrafted tribute to what is considered one of India’s most sacred and spiritual sites.
Made by skilled artisans from Uttar Pradesh, it captures the grandeur and intricate architecture of the temple – symbolic of dharma, righteousness, and divine blessings. It is entirely cast in pure silver, and is a miniature of the temple embodying purity, devotion, and cultural pride. Ideal for spaces of worship, homes, or as a meaningful keepsake, it reflects UP’s rich heritage of temple art and metalwork.
Before Trinidad and Tobago, the PM was in Argentina for a two-day visit to Buenos Aires, where he interacted with President Javier Milei.
He gifted Milei a silver lion on a fuchsite base, crafted by Rajasthani artisans. The fuchsite stone has been sourced from India’s mineral-rich regions while the piece embodies the country’s rich artistic and geological heritage.
It is a striking example of Rajasthan’s renowned metalwork and gemstone artistry, while the intricately detailed silver lion symbolises courage and leadership. Fuchsite is also known as the ‘stone of healing and resilience’.
Modi also gifted a Madhubani painting to the Argentinian Vice President, Victoria Eugenia Villarruel. It depicts the sun, showcasing one of India’s oldest folk art traditions from the Mithila region of Bihar.
