Trump’s combative pitch comes as Republicans head into the November 3 midterm elections facing a difficult political landscape.

US President Donald Trump turned a campaign rally in Ohio into a profanity-laced broadside against Democrats on Saturday, urging voters to back Republicans in the midterm elections and declaring that, if they did, “we’re going to shove it up their ass”.
“Just get out and vote,” Trump told supporters at a rally for Republican candidates, including US Senator Jon Husted and Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. “If you do that, we’re going to win, and we’re going to win big, and we’re going to shove it up their ass.”
Trump’s combative pitch comes as Republicans head into the November 3 midterm elections facing a difficult political landscape. His popularity has declined in recent months as Americans grapple with higher prices for gasoline and other staples amid the US-Israeli war with Iran.
Both Husted and Ramaswamy are fighting competitive races against Democratic challengers. Former US Senator Sherrod Brown is challenging Husted, while Amy Acton is running against Ramaswamy.
Why Ohio Matters In The US Midterms
Ohio is emerging as one of the key battlegrounds in the midterms, with its Senate race among eight across the US rated competitive. The elections will determine control of the narrowly divided House of Representatives and Senate.
Polls have suggested Democrats could make gains, but Trump predicted Republicans would defy those expectations.
“I think we’re going to have a big surprise because they don’t know what’s happening,” he told the crowd in Vandalia, Ohio.
