Rakhi Sawant Gets Non-Bailable Warrant In 2010 Suicide Case Over TV Show Remarks – Report

  • October 19, 2026

A Jhansi court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Rakhi Sawant in a 2010 suicide case linked to alleged insulting remarks on her television show, Rakhi Ka Insaaf. The next hearing is scheduled for December 1.

Rakhi Sawant

Actor Rakhi Sawant has landed in legal trouble after a court in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, issued a non-bailable warrant against her in connection with a 2010 suicide case. The warrant was issued by the Additional District and Sessions Judge of the Fast Track Court on Friday, October 16, following Sawant’s repeated failure to appear before the court, according to a government lawyer. The case concerns Laxman Ahirwar, who allegedly died by suicide on November 10, 2010, after being humiliated by remarks made about him on Sawant’s television show, Rakhi Ka Insaaf. The next hearing is scheduled for December 1.

What is the 2010 suicide case linked to Rakhi Sawant?

The case dates back to October 2010, when Laxman Ahirwar, a resident of the Hansari Prem Nagar area in Jhansi, allegedly faced insulting and objectionable remarks on Rakhi Sawant’s television show, Rakhi Ka Insaaf. According to the prosecution, Ahirwar died by suicide on November 10, 2010, following the alleged humiliation.

Ahirwar’s mother, Savitri, subsequently lodged a complaint at the Prem Nagar police station, accusing Sawant of using insulting language against her son during an episode of the show. The complaint formed the basis of the case against the actor.

Why did the Jhansi Court issue a non-bailable warrant against Rakhi Sawant?

District Government Counsel (Crime) Mridul Kant Srivastava said the Additional District and Sessions Judge of the Fast Track Court issued the non-bailable warrant on Friday after Rakhi Sawant repeatedly failed to appear before the court.

A non-bailable warrant is a court-issued order that allows the police to take the person named in the warrant into custody, subject to applicable legal procedures. The development marks a fresh turn in the long-running case, which originated more than 15 years ago.

According to the prosecution, Ahirwar and his wife, Anita, who hailed from Rajgarh, had been invited to appear on Rakhi Ka Insaaf following marital discord. Anita had reportedly returned to her parental home after disputes between the couple. The show, hosted by Sawant, featured personal disputes and relationship-related conflicts. The allegations in the present case concern remarks allegedly made about Ahirwar during the programme. However, the claims remain allegations linked to the ongoing legal proceedings.
