In a major boost to India’s defence manufacturing sector, Dassault Aviation and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) have signed landmark agreements to produce the fuselage of the Rafale fighter aircraft in India. This marks the first time in history that major components of the advanced French-origin fighter jet will be manufactured outside France.

The production is expected to commence in FY2028, with the facility aiming to deliver up to two complete fuselages per month. Officials say this marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards defence self-reliance and high-end aerospace manufacturing.
“This is a proud moment for India’s defence and aerospace sector. It represents a powerful endorsement of India’s capabilities and supports the vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’,” said a senior official involved in the agreement.
