However, more than the rain, it was the injury to their star opening batter Pratika Rawal, which left team India worried.
A day marred by inclement weather saw the two teams play a truncated 27-over per side match, where India dominated the proceedings right from ball one. After being put in to bat first, Bangladesh were under pressure from the opening over and struggled to build momentum due to a lengthy rain delay. Once play resumed, India’s spin duo of Radha Yadav (3/30) and Shree Charani (2/23) dismantled the Bangladeshi batting line-up, restricting them to 119 for 9 in 27 overs.
Chasing a DLS-revised target of 126, Amanjot Kaur opened the innings alongside Smriti Mandhana (34* off 27) after Pratika Rawal twisted her ankle while fielding. The opener landed awkwardly while attempting to prevent a boundary and had to leave the field in visible pain.

Amanjot Kaur opens in Pratika Rawal’s absence
In her absence, Amanjot and Mandhana gave India a steady start, scoring six runs from the first two overs. The first boundary of the innings came from Amanjot’s bat, flicking Marufa Akter towards long on. Mandhana then found her rhythm with back-to-back fours off Nishita Akter, as the pair capitalised on Bangladesh’s lapses in the field to bring up a fifty partnership in just 40 balls.
India were cruising at 57 for 0 after 8.4 overs when heavy rain returned, forcing the players off the field and eventually bringing the match to a premature end.
Earlier, after a two-hour delay to start the game, Renuka Singh had given India the perfect start with the ball, removing Sumaiya Akter for 2 (6) in the first over. Partnering with Deepti Sharma, Renuka maintained pressure from both ends. She could have had another wicket, but Shree Charani dropped a straightforward chance offered by Sharmin Akter at short third man.
Radha Yadav’s spin rocks Bangladesh
While Renuka was denied a second breakthrough, Deepti struck soon after, with Rubya Haider (13 off 32) holing out to mid-off. Bangladesh were struggling at 39 for 2 after 12.2 overs when another spell of rain halted play for nearly two hours.
Upon resumption, Bangladesh attempted to rebuild but were pegged back once more. A sharp piece of fielding from Radha Yadav caught captain Nigar Sultana (9 off 24) short of her ground at the non-striker’s end, triggering a collapse. From there, Radha and Charani ripped through the batting order, ensuring Bangladesh were bowled out for just 119 for 9 in 27 overs.
