In a gruesome crime in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy, a 35-year-old man has allegedly killed his wife and children before murdering the teen girl who accused him of sexual harassment.
The accused, Rajkumar, first attacked his 30-year-old wife, Parvathi Saritha, and two sons — aged 4 and 1 — at their residence in Shabad on Friday night.
He then travelled to the house of a 17-year-old girl, who had filed a complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against him on May 16. He took her in a car to a deserted location and then allegedly murdered her.
He also killed her 45-year-old mother and 65-year-old maternal grandmother. At the time of the incident, her 20-year-old sister, a person with disabilities, was also present in the house, but she was not harmed.
After the attacks, Rajkumar called his father and told him about the killings.
“He told his father, ‘I have done this. I have murdered these people.’ After that, he switched off his phone. He also said he was going to die by suicide, but that has not been confirmed yet,” senior police officer Tarun Joshi said.
“The accused is currently on the run. Special police teams have been formed, and we have developed leads. He will be apprehended soon,” he said.
A Love Marriage In 2018
Rajkumar and Parvathi had a love marriage in 2018. The couple initially lived outside the village before settling in houses they owned in Shabad and Devalaguda.
They had three children – their first child, a daughter, died in infancy.
In May, Rajkumar was arrested after a case was filed against him for stalking and sexually harassing the minor girl.
“The accused was following the girl from her coaching institute to her house and was pressuring her to accept his proposal,” Joshi said.
He said Rajkumar was on the run after the case was registered and later secured anticipatory bail from the court, as the sections invoked carried a punishment of less than seven years.
He was granted anticipatory bail on a personal bond of Rs 20,000 about a week before the sensational murders.
The officer said that Rajkumar had a history of behavioural issues.
“We called him two or three times for counselling. His family members have stated that his mental condition was not stable. He also had a gambling habit and had accumulated loans earlier,” he said.
‘Children Killed In Sleep’
Relatives who reached the house said that the children appeared to have been killed in their sleep, while signs of a violent struggle were visible in the room where Parvathi’s body was found.
