Victims, aged 18 to 27, were treated at local hospitals. As of Sunday morning, no arrests have been made, and authorities are seeking witnesses for further information.
Nine people have been injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in Minneapolis, with two of the victims suffering life-threatening injuries, police have said. Officers were called to reports of gunfire outside the Reign Event Center on Hennepin Avenue in the city’s Uptown neighbourhood shortly before 00:30 local time on Sunday.
Minneapolis police said officers arrived in less than a minute and requested assistance from all five precincts because of the large crowd and the number of casualties.
According to investigators, the shooting began outside the venue following an altercation. Police are also investigating whether some of the shots were fired from a vehicle.
The victims include seven men and two women aged between 18 and 27.
At the scene, officers found four people with gunshot wounds. They included a 20-year-old man with potentially life-threatening injuries, a 21-year-old man and two women, aged 22 and 27, who suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening. All four were taken to Hennepin Healthcare.
An 18-year-old man later arrived at Hennepin Healthcare with a gunshot wound that police said was not life-threatening.
Four more victims sought treatment at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. They included a 21-year-old man with potentially life-threatening injuries, who was later transferred to Hennepin Healthcare, and three men aged 20, 21 and 22 with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning.
