Ten-month-old Alin Sherin Abraham became Kerala’s youngest organ donor after a road accident. Her liver, kidneys, heart valve and eyes will save five people, including a six-month-old baby.

In a hospital corridor filled with grief, a 10-month-old child became a quiet symbol of hope. Alin Sherin Abraham, a baby from Mallappally in Pathanamthitta, has become the youngest organ donor in Kerala. Her organs will give new life to five people, including another infant.
Alin was critically injured in a road accident at 2.30 pm on February 5 while travelling from Kottayam to Thiruvalla via M.C. Road. A car coming from the opposite direction rammed into the vehicle near a junction. The child suffered severe injuries. Her mother and grandparents, who were with her, were also seriously hurt.
She was first admitted to hospitals in Changanassery and Thiruvalla before being shifted to Amrita Hospital in Kochi on February 7. On February 13, doctors declared her brain dead. In the midst of their grief, her father, Arun Abraham, and mother, Sherin Ann John, consented to donate her organs.
