The Indian Navy has initiated retaliatory measures in the Arabian Sea following unprovoked attacks from Pakistan, targeting Indian military stations in Jammu and surrounding areas. India successfully neutralised these threats using various defence capabilities, ensuring no casualties were reported.
The Indian Navy has started retaliatory operations in the Arabian Sea against multiple targets in Pakistan after an unprovoked escalation by the neighbouring nation late on Thursday night, sources have said.
This comes after India neutralised Pakistan’s attempt to hit military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur and some other locations with missiles and drones. The threats, however, were “swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established standard operating procedures (SOPs),” a defence ministry spokesperson said.
“Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir today,” a defence ministry spokesperson said.
India remains “fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people,” said the defence ministry after Pakistan’s failed attack attempts.
Sirens and numerous explosions were reported in Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla and Kupwara and several other places as the Indian military carried out a massive night aerial vigil along the border with Pakistan.
“No casualties or material losses were reported,” the official said.
Pakistan’s fresh attempts to target Indian military installations came less than 24 hours after a similar attempt early on Wednesday.
Early Thursday morning, the Indian defence systems had successfully intercepted a similar aerial attack. Pakistan tried to hit multiple targets in northern and western India using drones and missiles.
Pakistan “attempted to engage a number of military targets in… Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles,” as per a PIB statement.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Thursday reiterated that India’s response had been “precise, measured and calibrated,” but Pakistan retaliated by trying to hit Indian military installations and civilians.
Misri also called out Pakistan over its claims of escalation by India, saying that it was Islamabad that began the escalation with the terror attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed.
