A viral video from Chhattisgarh shows a man staging an unusual protest by scattering almonds on a government officer’s desk over a property file missing for over a year.

An unusual protest inside a government office in Chhattisgarh is drawing attention online after a young man used a symbolic gesture to highlight alleged administrative negligence. A video of the incident has gone viral, showing him scattering almonds across an officer’s desk, an act meant to send a pointed message about a “missing” file.
The incident occurred at the Tifra Housing Board office, where the individual, identified as Tarun Sahu, alleged that his property mutation file has been missing for more than a year. Despite making several visits and repeated follow-ups, he claimed officials consistently informed him that the documents could not be located and were presumed “lost.”
According to a report by India Today, Sahu had purchased an EWS flat through resale around a year ago. However, the mutation process, crucial for confirming legal ownership, has yet to be completed due to the missing file. As a result, he has been left without proper documentation, making multiple visits to the office without any progress.
Frustrated by what he described as inaction, Sahu staged a quiet but striking protest. By spreading almonds, often associated with improving memory, across the desk of a Sub-Registrar (Deputy Registrar), he attempted to symbolically suggest that the department needed to “refresh its memory” to locate his file. He also recorded and shared the moment on social media.

The video quickly gained traction, with many users interpreting the act as a reflection of the frustrations faced by ordinary citizens dealing with bureaucratic delays. Several comments highlighted larger concerns about inefficiency, lack of accountability, and the challenges of navigating public offices for essential services.
