An unusual protest inside a government office in Chhattisgarh is drawing attention online after a young man used a symbolic gesture to highlight alleged administrative negligence. A video of the incident has gone viral, showing him scattering almonds across an officer’s desk, an act meant to send a pointed message about a “missing” file.
The incident occurred at the Tifra Housing Board office, where the individual, identified as Tarun Sahu, alleged that his property mutation file has been missing for more than a year. Despite making several visits and repeated follow-ups, he claimed officials consistently informed him that the documents could not be located and were presumed “lost.”
According to a report by India Today, Sahu had purchased an EWS flat through resale around a year ago. However, the mutation process, crucial for confirming legal ownership, has yet to be completed due to the missing file. As a result, he has been left without proper documentation, making multiple visits to the office without any progress.
Frustrated by what he described as inaction, Sahu staged a quiet but striking protest. By spreading almonds, often associated with improving memory, across the desk of a Sub-Registrar (Deputy Registrar), he attempted to symbolically suggest that the department needed to “refresh its memory” to locate his file. He also recorded and shared the moment on social media.
