A 23-year-old lawyer dies after jumping from Kanpur court, leaving a note blaming years of mental stress from his father, raising concern over family pressure.

Priyanshu Srivastava, a 23-year-old lawyer, died after jumping from a court building in Kanpur, leaving behind a note in which he blamed his father for years of mental stress.
He was taken to a hospital soon after the incident, but doctors declared him dead. The incident took place inside the court premises and has left many in shock.
He Left A Note Before Taking The Step
Before jumping, Priyanshu posted a WhatsApp status that included a handwritten letter. In it, he spoke about his childhood and the issues he faced at home. He said his father had been mentally harsh with him since he was young.
“I was just six when I took mango juice from the refrigerator without asking anybody. For this, I was stripped and sent out of the house. I understand parents must be strict with their children, but not to the point where they feel suffocated. I tried a lot to move on and live my life, but I don’t think it is worth it,” he wrote.
He also said he was often questioned over small things, which made him feel stressed all the time. “I don’t think I can live with this anymore,” he added. In the letter, Priyanshu said his father forced him to study computer science, even though he wanted to choose physical education. He said this pressure affected his performance.
He also mentioned that his father would insult him in public and closely monitor his daily life. “He is always asking me where I am going, when I will be back, and who I am talking to over the phone. Unnecessary interference in my life has become suffocating. It is better to die once and for all than to feel suffocated daily,” he wrote.
Priyanshu also made an emotional appeal. “I want to appeal to all parents: torture your children to the point they can take it. Don’t let my father touch my body. I do not want any action to be taken against him so that my family is not affected. I wish no one gets a father like this. I lost, Papa won. Congratulations to him,” he wrote.
“Don’t even let my father touch my body… you won… congratulations on your victory, Papa.”
