Incident happened early Sunday morning in Midtown Manhattan
NEW York Jets player Kris Boyd is fighting for his life in hospital after being shot.
The New York Post reported that the defensive back was involved in a shooting in Midtown Manhattan and is in a critical condition.
The incident happened at around 2am ET Sunday morning on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue.
Police did not identify Boyd as the victim.
But the New York Post cited sources and reported that it was the 29-year-old.
He was critically wounded in the incident and is fighting for his life in Bellevue Hospital.
An investigation is underway but no arrests have been made, the New York Post added.
The New York Jets said in a statement, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”
ABC7 reported that first responders found Boyd with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The report adds that police are looking for a man who fled the scene in a blue vehicle in connection with the shooting.
Boyd was a seventh round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
He played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2019 to 2022.
