Government’s ‘Big Thanks’ After 6000 PNG Users Surrender Their LPG Connection

  • March 30, 2026

Government is pushing households and commercial users to switch to piped natural gas (PNG) and give up their LPG connections.

6,000 PNG consumers have surrendered their LPG connections.

As India continues to witness LPG shortage due to the war in West Asia, government is pushing for the PNG connections, and the existing PNG users are urged to give up their LPG connections. Owing to this, over 6,000 PNG users have surrendered their LPG connections, contributing to better availability in the regions where PNG is unavailable.

Reacting to the development, Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Neeraj Mittal expressed gratitude to the users and shared a post on X. “6,000 PNG consumers surrendered their LPG till yesterday! A big thanks to them!!”

He urged more users to give their connection and wrote: “Join this strong bold group of DoGood citizens who have come forward to give up LPG to help those to get LPG who don’t have PNG. Give up yours today at MyPNGD.in.”

Country is facing LPG crisis as the war is causing disruption in supplies from the key sources. Government is advocating for more Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections as it is a more convenient alternative that is both domestically produced and sourced through diversified supply.

A government order issued on March 24 warns that the LPG supply “shall cease after three months” if a household does not opt for PNG despite availability.
