Some youths’ alleged attempt to kidnap a woman and drag her to a car was foiled after she yelled for help, prompting female sanitation workers to rush in and beat the abductors with brooms on Sahastradhara Road here, police said on Thursday.
According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Nalapani Chowk when 45-year-old Sushma Verma was returning home on her scooter after dropping her daughter off at the college bus.

When the woman raised an alarm, people rushed to the spot. Police said three female sanitation workers, who were sweeping the road nearby, also arrived and beat the accused with their brooms. Amid this, the accused fled the scene.
