OUSTED dictator Nicolas Maduro has shared new photos from a US jail with the ex-president smirking and flashing up peace signs.
US forces seized the Venezuelan leader, 63, in a daring special ops raid earlier this year and threw him behind bars on drug trafficking charges – where he has languished ever since.
His wife Cilia Flores, 69, has also been imprisoned in the New York jail after being captured during the dramatic night-time raid on their compound in Caracas.
Sporting a grey prison track suit and Nike trainers, the tyrant looked slimmed down in the pictures.
Maduro grins at the camera, clutching his glasses in one hand and flashing a peace sign with the other.
“I am sending these photos as a small gift to all my grandchildren, to the boys and girls, and to all the good people who love us,” he wrote on Telegram.
“I want you to know that we are standing firm, with our hearts full of your love,” he added.
The photos emerged on Sunday – but camera data suggests they were taken on June 25, a day after two devastating earthquakes decimated towns and killed more than 6,500 people in northern Venezuela.
“We will remain strong, calm and confident: God is with us. God will provide. Venezuela will rise again”, Maduro said online.
The deposed dictator has been running Venezuela since 2013 – and has close ties to Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin.
Now, both Maduro and his wife are locked inside a “jail within a jail”.
Prosecutors accuse the pair of collaborating with cartel kingpins to ship thousands of tons of cocaine into the US – claims which the couple vigorously deny.
“I am a decent man. I am still president of my country”, insisted Maduro at his hearing in January.
The ousted tyrant joked his way through a court appearance in July – telling his lawyer he looked “very serious”.
It was the third hearing since his abduction at the start of the year with the trial on the narco-terrorism charges scheduled for June 1, 2027.
