Several unrelated and old videos are being widely shared on social media with the false claim that they show visuals of Air India’s AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad.
A London-bound Air India plane carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed in a crowded residential area in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad minutes after taking off from the airport on Thursday.
The AI 171 flight took off at 1.39 pm and crashed into a medical college complex near the Ahmedabad airport and burst into a ball of fire less than a minute after take-off, leaving just one survivor.
DNA tests are being conducted to identify the victims.
Meanwhile, social media platforms are flooded with videos claiming to be that of the Air India crash. However, the found were found to be hold and have no connection with the Ahmedabad plane crash.
An old video is being shared on social media platforms, claiming that it shows the recent CCTV footage of Ahmedabad plane crash. Upon verification, the video was found to be from Lebanon, posted PIB Fact-Check on X.
