US President Donal Trump is set to meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss air defense and long-range capabilities.
Donald Trump reveled in international praise after brokering peace in the Middle East during a successful visit to Israel on Monday.
Global leaders rallied behind Mr. Trump at a subsequent summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, supporting his efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The US president is scheduled to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House this Friday.
This news comes as Russia’s economy teeters on the brink of a ‘once in 30 year crisis’ in a key sector. It comes as a lip reader spills Trump’s five-word threat to Macron during tense handshake power struggle.
However, insiders have told The Telegraph that the American leader is preparing to supply Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles in a bold move intended to force an end to the brutal war with Russia.
The two leaders will discuss their “visions” for deploying the long-range Tomahawk missile to pressure Vladimir Putin into negotiations, according to Mr. Zelensky, reports the Express.
“The main topics will be air defense and our long-range capabilities, to maintain pressure on Russia,” the Ukrainian leader stated.
Mr. Trump has hinted at the possibility of sending Tomahawks to Kyiv if Putin continues to obstruct any chance of peace talks.
The president has recently increased intelligence-sharing with Ukrainian forces to enhance their long-range attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, intensifying the pressure on Russia’s struggling economy.
Middle East triumph fuels Ukraine peace hopes.
Mr. Trump arrived in Tel Aviv on Monday to commemorate the release of 20 Israeli hostages under the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement.
After announcing his commitment to lasting peace, he jetted off to Egypt for discussions with global leaders to officially kickstart the initial phase of a White House agreement aimed at ending the Gaza war.
While addressing Israel’s parliament, Mr. Trump unveiled his plan to shift his attention towards brokering a resolution to the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
“It would be great if we could make a peace deal with [Iran]… First, we have to get Russia done,” he shared with the Knesset. “Let’s focus on Russia first.”
Trump touts resolution of eight conflicts
Since the conclusion of the Gaza war, Mr. Trump has proudly claimed to have resolved eight conflicts since stepping into the White House in late January.
However, finding a solution to the three-and-a-half-year-long struggle between Ukraine and Russia remains elusive and continues to pose challenges. Mr. Trump has struggled to gain an upper hand in negotiations with Putin.
Yet, his endorsement of the White House’s “peace through strength” doctrine in the Middle East on Monday has ignited new hope.
Mr. Zelensky expressed that the US president’s Israel-Hamas deal “brings more hope” to other regions plagued by war.
“We are working so that the day of peace comes for Ukraine as well. Russian aggression remains the last global source of destabilization, and if a ceasefire and peace have been achieved for the Middle East, the leadership and determination of global actors can certainly work for us, too,” the Ukrainian president posted on social media.
Ukraine delegation initiates Washington discussions
His prime minister and top aide flew to Washington on Monday to begin “high-level talks to strengthen Ukraine’s defense, secure our energy resilience, and intensify sanctions pressure on the aggressor”.
With speculation mounting that Mr Trump might provide Tomahawks to Ukraine, Mr Zelensky is prepared to present him with a comprehensive list of Russian military targets that could be struck with the weapons.
Kyiv is counting on the weapon’s ability to devastate Moscow’s war machine by severing supply lines and destroying missile and drone manufacturing facilities.
Tomahawks possess a range of approximately 1,500 miles, putting such targets well within striking distance.
