Tahawwur Rana submitted before the court that he needs to consult his family members before changing his counsel, while seeking permission for a phone call. He is currently being represented by a legal aid counsel.

A Delhi Court reserved its order on the plea moved by 26/11 attack alleged mastermind Tahawwur Rana seeking to make phone call to his family members to consult over changing his counsel.
Rana submitted before the court that he needs to consult his family members before changing his counsel, while seeking permission for a phone call. He is currently being represented by a legal aid counsel.
After hearing his submissions in an in-camera proceeding the court reserved its verdict.
The Patiala High Court is expected to pronounce its decision on the matter on August 7.
The court also disposed of his separate application requesting regular phone calls with family members, after Tihar Jail authorities opposed the plea.
Rana, a suspected close associate of 26/11 conspirator David Coleman Headley alias Daood Gilani, was extradited to India after the United States Supreme Court rejected his review plea on April 4.
He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail under judicial custody, which was last extended until August 13.
